For a school project, I created Elke keer opnieuw, an animated short about the experience of coming out and the fact that it often isn’t something you only do once. The project focuses on those small moments where you have to decide whether to say something, explain yourself or simply let it pass. I wanted to show that mix of tension, awkwardness and vulnerability in a way that still feels approachable and visually engaging. I developed the concept, visual style and animation myself, using motion and storytelling to turn a very personal and emotional subject into something clear and relatable. The project taught me a lot about using design for more than just aesthetics, and about how visuals can help communicate a feeling or experience that can be difficult to put into words.
